Understanding counting picture graphs
A counting picture graph shows a few categories as rows of simple symbols, and the learner counts the symbols in a row to find how many, then chooses the matching total. These worksheets give very young children a gentle first look at data, combining counting practice with the idea that a graph organises information into groups.
For example, if the "cats" row shows three cat pictures, the learner counts 1, 2, 3 and selects 3 as the total for cats. A common mistake is counting symbols from two different rows together instead of one row at a time.
